Episcopal laywoman in recovery from the deadly, life-sucking disease of alcoholism, calligrapher and lover of liturgy, laughter, rocks, shells, babies, and birds, not necessarily in that order. I know now that since the liturgical reforms of the 1960s my desire has been to relate faith and life, making them one, a seamless whole with each informing & expanding the other. In my last year at UCSB, headed for the convent, I met the amazing Gordon Buck and married. In the 80s I discovered Julian of Norwich and realized that I lived, with her, with one window into the church and the other into the town square . Through the darkest of times and countless seasons of life, God has never let me stray TOO far. This blog exists to share my daily meditation verse. The God I know in Jesus Christ is not tight and rule-bound, but rather expands hearts and horizons. His harshest judgements were on the religious authorities of his day, the rule keepers and bean counters. Ours is the God who delights in creation, who made the sky not just blue, but a Tiepolo Sky.
