Second Vespers of The Transfiguration

grant that we, being delivered from the disquietude 
of this world, may by faith behold the King in his beauty

The Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ, the day we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, the day Tinker came into our lives in 1992

It is the God who said “Let light shine out of darkness” who has shone in our

hearts 

to give us 

the light 

of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in clay jars so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and doe not come from us. It is the God who said “Let light shine out of darkness” 

who has shone in our hearts 

2 Corinthians 4:6-7

What a comfort to me this morning  that ours is the God who does not just shine light into the darkness, HE shines light OUT of darkness.... And that’s what we need. 

Eve of the Transfiguration

all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, 

are being changed into the same image from one degree of glory to another 

                                    2 Corinthians 3:18

My friend Phil says he looks at my blog once in a while “when I need a spiritual kick in the ass.” 

I think this feast qualifies...
