Trinity Sunday

                                            Based on Ephesians 4:6
 O Holy Trinity,
one God;
you are
above
all things
through
all things &
 in
all things, Father Son and Spirit blest.

Eve of Trinity Sunday

Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria, d. 373

where the light
is,
there
is
the radiance, and where the
radiance is, there shall be its power...

Saturday

                                                                    I Timothy 6:6-7
     there is
     great
     gain in
     godliness
     combined
     with
     contentment;
     for we
     brought
     nothing
     into
     the world,
so that we can take nothing out of it.
Or, as Bill Mahedy used to say,
“There are no pockets in a shroud.”

The Commemoration of Copernicus 1542*

Absolution at the Daily Office

life
"Copernicus, who was not a notably devout layman, was included on the calendar of  The Lutheran Book of Worship because of his contribution to the history of ideas that ultimately required Christianity to expand its understanding the the size of the

universe and to come to terms with the position of the Earth not at the center but as part of the solar system that is on the fringe of the universe. Copernicus thus taught Christians a new kind of humility before the cosmos."

A Tuesday

                                                                                                  Psalm 5:3

In the morning, Lord, you
hear my voice; early in the morning
I make my appeal and watch for you.
