Blessed

 be the

 God &

 Father 

 of our

   Lord

  Jesus

 Christ, 

 the Father of all mercies & the God of all consola-

 tons, who consoles is in our afflictions so that

 we may be able to console those who are

 in any way afflicted with the consola- 

 tion with which we ourselves are

 consoled.

     Turn

   again 

 to your

rest,

O 

 my 

   soul,

      for the Lord has treated you well.

Mary Magdalene, apostle to the apostles as the first witness to the resurrection.  

Wednesday evening

                           A great 

                         windstorm

                       arose, 

                   so that

                the waves 

           beat against

       the boat and 

 the boat was 

being swamped.

But 

Jesus 

was 

in the 

stern 

asleep

on the

cushion.

And the

disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care 

          that we are “perishing?“ 

       He woke up and rebuked  

       the wind and said to the 

     sea Peace! Be still. And 

    the wind ceased and 

there was a dead calm.

I’ve been back & forth & back again & here I stand. 

The last word of the verse in the BCP is STATUTES,

 not WAYS.Statutes has the advantage of connecting 

us to our Jewish ancestors in the faith and the Com

mandments,. But ways feels broader and less legalistic 

and since it is that ancient, thundering God speaking  

to this heart, I am going  with my  original impulse, lest 

I hear "To WHOM am I speaking? WHO is this intended 

for?"  Now THAT sounds like the statutes Guy...
