Elizabeth Fry (1780-1845) an English Quaker who was a prison reformer, philanthropist and mother of 11!

                                                       Psalm 1: 1a, 2a, 3a
Happy
are they whose delight
is in the law of the Lord. They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing
fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither

 “Lead us
by Christ's love,
& by the example
of  Elizabeth Fry,
to serve all those
to whom the world offers no comfort
and little help.”

Pray for those who work in prisons
and for all who are in prison. Pray
also for the end to for-profit prisons
in our country which make a profit
off of human frailty and misery.

The essence of Fry’s work was the conviction that all prisoners, male
& female , are fellow human beings
& ...that treatment must not contribute
to the the degradation of inmates..."

Evening Prayer

                                                              Psalm 112:4

Light
shines
in the
darkness for the upright

Sunday morning

                                               Psalm 146:2,4

Put not
your trust
in rulers,
nor in any
child of
earth,
for when
they breathe their last
they return to the earth.
Happy are they who have
the God of Jacob for their hope.

St Philip Deacon and Evangelist (Acts 6:5)

                                                  Canticle 19 (= Revelation 15:3-4)

Your
ways
are
ways
of righteousness
and truth, O King of all the ages.
A man of  prayer is not necessarily a person who says a number of offices or abounds in detailed  intercessions; but he is a child of God, who is and who knows himself to be in the deeps of his soul attached to God, and who is wholly and entirely guided by the Creative Spirit in his prayer and in his work.   Evelyn Underhill

Friday Evening Prayer

                                                            Psalm 141:2

Let my prayer be set forth
in your sight as incense,
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Friday

 Collect for Friday
     Luke 8:5-15:
A sower went out to sow….
Mercifully grant that
we, walking
in the way of the cross,
may find it none other than the
 way of life
and peace
