The Eve of Trinity Sunday

                                                    Canticle 13
                                    Benedictus es, Domine

        Glory
        to you,
        behold-
        ing the
        depths;
        in the
        high
        vault of
        heaven,
        glory to you.
        Glory to you,
        Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
we will praise you & highly
                               exalt you for ever.

Today we remember John Elliot, Puritan missionary to the Algonquin, 1604 -1690

                                      Proverbs 8:24-27, 31-32

When
there
were
no
depths,
I was
brought
forth
Before the mountains had  been shaped, before the
hills or the world’s first bit of soil  When he
drew a circle on the face of the deep was
there beside him, rejoicing in the inhabited
world and delighting in the human race.
And now, my children, listen to me:
happy are they who
keep my ways.
 Pray today for justice for
 Native Americans, for
respect for the Native
American traditions
cultures, for concern for
their welfare, for the
spirit of prayer, for those
who teach the church to sing.

          ”We pray that we
           may so desire to
           share your  Good
           News with others
          that we labor for
          mutual understand-
           ing and trust”
                         - Collect

Friday evening

                                          2 John 5

  let
  us
  love one another

Today we remember Alcuin, deacon, scholar and Abbot of Tours, born about 730, died 804, who “was chiefly responsible for the preservation of the classical heritage of western civilization.“

                                                       Psalm 16: 19

   You
   will
   show
   me
   the
   path
   of life;
   in your presence
there is fullness of joy, & in your
   right hand pleasures for evermore.

Illumine our minds, we pray, that amid the uncertainties & confusions of our own time we may show for your eternal truth

Thursday Evening Prayer

                                                   Psalm 18:33

  It is
  God
  who
  girds
  me
  with
  strength
  and makes my way secure.

Saint Dunstan, 909–988, Archbishop of Canterbry

                                                       Psalm 24:1

       The
       earth
       is the
       Lord’s
       and all
       that
       is in it;
       the world
       and all who dwell therein.
Dunstan, became a monk,
then a bishop, then in 960,
Archbishop of Canterbury,
the 26th I think, the current
one being Justin Welby.  A
monk-bishop, he was ins-
trumental in the revival of
monasticism. He is considered
the patron saint of those who
 work with metals and those
who craft bells.
