to put on

mortal life 

Our friend Jack Whitehouse is nearing the end of his mortal life and tonight this part of the collect seems appropriate. And tomorrow, on the Feast of St Nicholas, is the 54th anniversary of Jim Kellett's ordination to the priesthood and his blessing begins "My friends, the time is short and we do not have much time to do good…."  A salubrious Advent theme….
