_______Collect of the day_
Grant that
your church,
instructed by
their teaching
and example,
and knit to-
gether in
unity by
your Spirit,
may ever stand firm on the one foundation
What an unlikely pair: Peter and Pau: the fisher-man and the Pharisee. The one who walked with Jesus and betrayed him when he was on trial, and whom Jesus instructed, after it all,“Feed my sheep.” And the who didn’t even know Jesus
on earth and had to be knocked off his high horse on his
way to kill Christians. He heard the Voice say “Why are you persecuting me?” and had the nerve to ask “And who ar you? Only to receive the answer the risen Chirst still gives today: “I am the ones who you are persecuting.”
Two such different blokes. Celebrated together by the church -whose actions as well as her words teach us that there is room for all of us and that we are to make room for others.
Sometimes God does not preach but simply show us a picture that pierces our hearts and calls out our name.
God is not faithful but because we are faithful but because he is.
