Karl Barth to resist tyranny and exult in your saving grace…Teach us, like him, to live by faith, and even in chaotic and perilous times to perceive the light of your eternal glory  -Collect   And 

Thomas Merton, (Fr Louis)  Trappist monk & prophetic witness - priest writer, poet theologian, mystic, social activist, & scholar of comparative religion. Born in 1915, he died in a freak accident in Thailand  while attending a conference of  Buddhist & Christian monastics on this date,  also in 1968, 50 years ago,  December 10th is also the date he entered the monastery.
