Monday evening

           When he  

        looked up

    and saw a 

     large crowd 

of people 

   coming 

      toward 

         him,  

              Jesus 

                said to Philip 

                    “Where are we to buy bread 

                                   for these people to eat?”

                                                             

                                                               How many times 

                                                                   have I seen & not 

                                                                 heard these words?

                                                              When I pay attention

                                                             & stick with the words, 

                                                          it’s amazing: Jesus’ first

                                                      thought is of food. He knows 

                                                 knows us well. And the question

                                              what I alone going to do it about, 

                                           though they are coming to see him, 

                                       but what are WE Together are going

                                    to do. 5000 or grieving, ashamed Peter 

                                who betrayed him: I don't know the guy!

                             Two millennialenia ago, today, or 2 millenia 

                           from now it's all the same: Can I get you 

                         something to eat?
