Frederick Douglas 

was born in 1818. 

A former slave, he became a social reformer, orator, 

writer, statesman 

and leader of the abolitionist move-

ment. He died on 

this date in 1895. 

                                    “Strengthen us also to be outspoken on behalf of this who are in captivity  and tribulation, continuing the work of Jesus Christ our Liberator….” (Collect aka Prayer)
