*“The Martyrs of Memphis,” Constance and her companions, were Sisters of St Mary, and two priests, who died helping victims of the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1878 in Memphis TN.

Adelaide Case [1/10/1887-7/19/1948] was the first  woman appointed to teach at an Episcopal seminary (Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, MA). Her interests were Christian education and social reform, and she took part in many educational, social and ecumenical movements including “The Episcopal Pacifist Fellowship.” — from Holy Women, Holy Men

from Columbia and taught Religious Education there for many years before joining ETS later in her 

career. Her doctoral thesis, Liberal Christianity And Religious Education, was published as a book in 1924

               Cicely Saunders 

was a nurse, social worker, 

and finally a physician who had undergone a conversion during her youth. She believed that ‘a patient is more than the collection of their symptoms’ and in 1967 founded the first hospice, Saint Christopher’s  in London in1967.               

              "You matter because you are you and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all that we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die". 

               Cicely died of breast cancer in her own hospice on July 14, 2005.
