Actually, I’m off by a week here. Pete is the 18th. The 25th is the bookend feast, the Conversion of Saul the Pharisee.They are such an interesting - Peter knew Jesus intimately in his lifetime, Pal only after the resurrection. This “Apostle to the Gentiles” had his whole life and mission turned around in a moment, a blinding flash. (In recovery lingo, hitting bottom.Which IS a beginning but only a mere beginning…

throne….  And 

on either side 

of the river is 

the tree of  life 

with its  twelve

kinds of fruit, 

producing  its fruit each month….  

                                                            When I was little I Heard

                                                         “pearl streams” and loved 

                                                     the image.  Only much later 

                                                  did I finally realize that the 

                                               saints were streaming in 

                                           through gates of peal….But 

                                        it still makes me happy. It’s  

                                     a good reminder that the 

                                 deepest worship enga-

                              ges the * and not the

                           head alone. 

                    And when the fight is fierce, the warfare long, 

                 steals on the ear the distant triumph song, 

             and hearts are brave again and arms are

        strong.  Alleluia alleluia!
