The Episcopal church celebrates The Fourth of July because the church too came to this new land from England, as the An-glican Church. With the revolution we too became independent of the king too. (Remember Henry VIII?) That explains why we have scriptural readings and a collect (prayer) for a civic holiday, and our flag is the same red, white and blue of the nation's flag, the 13 white crosses on the blue field represent-ing the orig-inal colonies.  The cross, of course,is a sign of sacrificail love of  him whose service is prefect freedom.
