*Archbishop of San Salvador Óscar Romero (1917-1980)  and the Martyrs of San Salvador. 

Archbishop Romero was assass-inated on this day in 1980 while he was saying mass. He had been threatened and his response was  

a       bishop will die but the Church of God which is the people will never perish.
