                   ________________________Psalm 27:11_

You
speak
in my
heart
and
say,
Seek
my
face."
Your face Lord will I seek.

* Samuel Seabury,
the first American
bishop consecrated in
1784 for newly form-
ing independent Epis-
copal Church. He sail-
ed to England for 3
bish-ops who would
consecrate him but,
not being able to
 swear allegiance to
the King  ended up
being  consecrated
 in Scotland on this
day in 1784.

 _Joshua 8:1____________________________

Do
not
fear
or be
dismayed

*Thomas Ã¡ Kempis 1380-1471
Priest and author of the classic,          The Imitation of Christ
which always seems such an unfortunate title since to "imitate” Christ one must become  uniquely oneself, one’s true
 self as another Thomas (Merton)
would say centuries later. Perhaps
a good reminder that in all things
spitiutual you cannot simply take
the sureface meaning...
                      Know all
        and you will
        pardon all.

Musings: The MP readings were a challenge- Psalm 45 which is all about the king, (the earthy king) - Joshua be-ing told to ambush and burn and destroy the city of Ai, (hardly a salubrious or even acceptable example for today’s world on the face of it!) And the whole was topped off by Judas’ betrayal of Jesus, ushering in his death… and resurrection. Looking at our world today - from wherever you stand - we are in a  mell of a hess.

And yet the Word of the Lord, insistent and persistent, was “Do not fear or be dismayed…”  And there was no other. Believe me - I looked!  In AA you hear “Take what you like and leave the rest,” which turns out to have an implied “right now” - later it’ll make more sense … just file it away.” So the word of the Lord to me is : don’t get your panties in a bunch. Live the life I have called you to today. Just today. You don’t have to know how it all fits together. Remember, "Easy does it but DO IT.” And as my grandmother Molly used to say “Underneath are the everlasting arms.”
