First vespers of the 7th Sunday of Easter

                              Collect for the Seventh and
                                    last Sunday of Easter

Do
not
leave
us com-
fort-
less,
but send your
Holy Spirit to strengthen us….

Saturday after the Ascension

Come, Holy Spirit,  fill the hearts
of all people.
And kindle
in us the fire
of your love.
Send forth
your Spirit
 & we shall be
created & so
you renew the
face of the earth.

The traditional form of this  is:  “fill the hearts of the faithful.“
Should you need a theological justification for the change,
see Psalm 87 appointed today at Morning Prayer … inclusivity
goes as far back as the Chosen People  who also struggled with
the issue of EX-clusivity/INnclusivity. Why limit what we ask of her/him?

Friday toward evening

                                                       John 14:18

            I
            will
            not
            leave
            you comfortless

I was telling the kids in chapel today about Ascension - that Jesus had gone away but he would not leave us  all alone.  I gave them each a little heart and when I was done I had this empty paper. It seems a perfect symbol of this time in-between. I can’t tell them, but
I can tell you.

Thanks God it's raining!

                                                         Psalm 85:5

will
listen
to
what
the
Lord God is saying,
for he is speaking peace
to his faithful people, and to
those who run their hearts to him.
