Tonight we commemorate Corita Kent. Born 1918, she died September 18, 1986.

                                                            Acts 18:9, 10

One
night
the
Lord
said
in a
vision…
“Do not be afraid, but speak
and do  not be silent, for I am with you… ”
"Love the moment and  the
energy of that  moment
will spread beyond
 all boundaries."
Known to me in the 60s by her artwork as Sr Corita, was an important part of my becoming.  Daniel Kerrigan said “The joy
in her work, its riotous colors,
was a  gift to a good, gray world..."
And to me. It took what was
black & white & colored it &
broke down all the boundaries
between God & the world for me,
sacred & secular, this & that...

Today we remember Theodore of Tarsus, Born in Tarsus, Turkey in 602, died on this date in690. Served as Archbishop of Canterbury from 668 to 690 in the tumultuous time after the Synod at Whitby.

                                            Canticle 9
                                   (From the Prophet Isaiah)

Surely
it is
God
who
saves me,
I will trust
in him and not be afraid

Create in your Church, by the operation of the Holy Spirit, such godly union & concord, that we  may may proclaim, by both Word and ex-ample, the gospel of
the Prince of Peace
 - Collect

"God takes what we do
and commends the good in it."

Sunday at Evening Prayer

                                                               James 1:22

But
be
doers
of the
word
and
not
merely hearers

A mid-September Sunday

Based on the Collect for Today

Grant
us
Lord,
not
to be
anxious
about earthly things, but to hold
fast to those things that shall endure

I usually write down my meditation
 verse but I didn’t today. As I
went about my watering, knowing
that it is usually the little words,
the exact wording that holds a key,
I thought  Do not be anxious…
Really?” the Little Voice whispered.
I checked and began againGrant
us not to be anxious,   “A world
of difference, Louise dear. I don’t
expect you to do it yourself: it’s
not a command, yet another thing
yo try to do, but a gift….”
Oh right.  Thanks.
