The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Hear the words of the covenant which I commanded you when I brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron smelter. Hear the words of the covenant and do them.” Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. (Based on Jeremiah 11:1,4 and Romans 6:4)
Today is not only April Fool’s day but also our friend Rich B’s sobriety date. Anyone who is recovering from alcoholism or addiction - whether to drugs or combat or gambling or sex or any condition of human bondage - knows, not just in their heads, but in their bodies and in their souls, what it is to be freed from the iron smelter and the Land of Egypt, to be raised from the dead and to walk in newness of life. Recovering people are Easter people, all walking around anonymously shining with the incredible power of the Resurrection. Happy birthday, Rich - those of us who were there Before especially join in the celebration!
I really like the admonition in Jeremiah to "hear and do " - not to hear and obey, or hear and agree with but to hear and do. JUS4 2DY
