I am once again
convinced
that neither death nor life,
nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Based on Romans 8:38
We have to be convinced and converted over and over again as is hinted in today’s reading in Jeremiah. (23:1-8) It's not enough simply to remember that God brought our ancestors out of Egypt in the past, we need to know that God Brings us, the children of that promise, out of the lands to which we have been scattered. And scattered we get, by loss and illness, diminishment and grief, all “the many and varied changes of this life.” We are the people of the Way and even in our prayers for the dead we pray that they may "go from strength to strength in the life of perfect freedom.”

We don’t get back what we’ve lost;
we get what we never had.”
