        aloud, 

        inhab-

        itants 

        of 

        Zion, 

        ring 

        out 

        your

        joy, 

        for 

        the great one 

           in the midst of you 

               is the Holy One of Israel.

he was refused admittance 

to General Seminary NY, 

ordained in Boston, traveled

to England where he got 

a degree from Cambridge funded by abolitionists, and went to Liberia and 

retuned to the US as a missionary. (A transatlantic journey in the 19th century took 6 weeks.
