The Philippines broke away 

from Spain in 1896 iand in 

1902 the Philippine Inde-

pendent Church, was 

formed, called in Spanish 

Iglesia Filipina Independiente, in Tagalog: Mal-

ayang Simbahan, and Aglipay, who had been a Ro-man Cathlic priest, became the first Obispo Maximo. In 1960 it became a full member of the Anglican Communion. and earlier
this year they consecrated their first female bishop.   

                                             At the time,  Aglipay was 
                                          consecrated Bishop by 12 
                                     priests….  The Apostolic Suc-
                               cession (which requires 3 bishops 
                       to consecrate one ) is dear to our Com-
                    munion  so no doubt at some point their 
              ordinations were regularized, but that’s for& 
        another day as it’s gotten way late. and smiles.
