 * Theodore of Tarsus 602-690, was  born in Tarsus) and became Archbishop of Canter-bury in 668, following the Synod  of Whitby 

in 664, though I learned today that at the time of the  synod it was called Streonshalh (Streanæshalch.)  It was the Abbess Hilda’s  double monastery  of

men and wo-men, a sing-ularly Celtic instuitution which disap-peared after the Synod’s decision for Roman over Celtic Christianity.
