                                  _____________________Numbers 20:7 -12 _

The  
Lord 

spoke  

to Moses

  saying…
assemble 

the congregation…
       and command the rock 
                  to yield its water. 

                      Thus you shall bring 

                         water out of the rock.

So Moses took the staff from before the 

Lord… gathered the assembly together 

before the rock and he said to them,         

                           Listen, you rebels 

                   shall we bring water for 

              you out of this rock?” Then 

          Moses lifted up his hand and 

       struck the rock twice …

    and water came out of abundantly… 

             But the Lord said to Moses… 

     because you did not trust me, 
        to show my holiness before the 
           eyes of the Israelites, therefore 
            you shall not bring this assembly in-
              to the land that I have given them.

The Word of the Lord. 

 I always have heard this as God being

arbitrary. But he has spent the last 

number of years saying: “Listen. What 

did I say? What were the words I used?"  

Today, I read it and though OH!!!!!
