____________________Numbers 11:23_
The
Lord
said to
Moses,
" is
the
Lord’s
power limited?
now you shall see
whether my word will
come true for youor not.”
The people are fed up -
they’re out wandering a-
round in the wilderness and
they’ve forgotten their slavery
in Egypt and are remembering all
the food they ate for "free" My com-
mentary by Jonathon Alter calls that
“a striking instance of selective memory.”
Which made me laugh! We're so good at
that - Oh things were so good back when…
And God’s fed up too and has just said “OK
you guys want meat? I’ll give you meat until it’s
coming out of your nostrils!” and Moses says SAY
WHAT? We are talking “600,000 males of the age
of military conscription, multiplied through all of
the ad-ditional female and minor mouths to
feed. The incredulity expressed in the
question indicates that even Moses
cannot believe there is a way to
provide mat for this
vast populace.”
My verse
follows that. Two
follow-ons from 2 of
my daily readings that
fit wehre we are today too:
“It’s so tempting to want to stream
line and sanitize the journey of faith.” And
from Forward Day by Day “Life is messy, and
it’s even messier together But it’s also better.”
