fortunately the cost of Web access within the islands is too expensive for the brothers,

I was surprised with the image.
I usually go bigger, broader.  But not today. Today is totally local and focal. Maybe be-
cause to know Christ “in the breaking of bread” implies, requires a a community to which one belongs. But  at first I couldn’t find the image.
As I searched, I  thought maybe it was maybe  this stylized  flower with a multitude of petals a-
round a button at the
Center. As I looked further,
I thought maybe
it a map of the world painted on two upturned palms.
And then I came across  the picture I  had first seen in my minds eye. ….

 there is a great silence
 on earth today
a great silence+stillness.
The whole earth keeps
silence because the

Friday, April 7, 2017. Today we remember Tikhon of Moscow (1865 –1923) confessor and ecumenism humanist, the Patriarch ofMoscow and All Russia during the early years of the Soviet Union.

                                          Psalm 95:7b/ Romans 11: 18

           Oh,
           that
           today
           you
           would
           hearken
           to God’s voice!
it is not you who support the root,
but the root who supports you
Open our eyes, we pray, as you opened the eyes of your servant  Tikhon that we may see the faithful-ness of others as we strive to be steadfast
to the faith  delivered
to us that the world may
see  and know you            - Collect
I ask your prayers
for our Russian Orthodox brother and sisters,
and for the citizens and the governments officials
of our respective counties.

Thursday, April 6, 2017 Today the church remembers Daniel Gee Ching Wu, Priest and missionary among Chinese Americans in the San Francisco Bay area, d. 1956.*

                                    Psalm 133:1

Oh, how good and pleas-ant
it is
when brothers and sisters
live together in unity.

Gee Ching Woo learned English in Hawaii from the  deaconess Emma Dreamt after she asked him to teach her Chinese.  Inspired by her Christian convictions, he  was baptized, taking the name Daniel.  Drant moved to San Francis and started missionary work with the Chinese which became True
Sunshine Church, which continues to this day.  Ching moved to the Bay area, attended CDSP and was ordained a priest in 1912 and continued his work there until his death in 1956.

St Agnes, Martyr at Rome, 304

                          Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strong in the Lord and the strength of his power

“O God ,you choose whom the world deems powerless to put the powerful to shame..“ Collect

Agnes was 12 when she was martyred. Seems the prefect day for a 200,000 person Women's March in Washing-ton DC and 600 sister marches in, I think it's 60 countries around the world as well as countless people praying for the marchers all marching to uphold human rights and the dignity of people,

St Lucy, Martyr at Syracuse, 304 I associate St Lucy or Lucia (the name itself means light) with Sweden but she was actually martyred in Syracuse in Sicily. Before 1528, when Pope Gregory VIII reformed the calendar, (The Gregorian calendar is the most widely used civil calendar in the world) Dec 13 was the shortest day of the year and, with her feast, the light began slowly to grow as the days lengthened.

                                             Isaiah 9:5

all the boots of the tram-pling warriors and all the garments rolled in blood shall be burned
as fuel for the fire.

That’s my word for today: the Word of the Lord.  The rest is  just my musings which I share if you want to read them. After writing this, I did the blog post….
God Rocks! Sometimes things just come crashing together and it’s amazing.  I went in to read Morning Prayer after learning about St Lucy and was confronted by/with Psalm 45 which just puts me on my  ear….  it’s so full of power and domination -  just what the Chosen People (and the disciples, and are we any different?) were looking for in a Messiah - an earthly king to kick butt. (And they got squalling baby born in a stable and a Peacenik riding into town on a donkey rather than a war horse.) I was tempted to not read it at all but I was glad I did… I was especially struck this morning  by “the rich among the people seek your favor” in case we are  temped to think that sucking up to power (more politely put, currying favor) is anything new…
And then I read Isaiah 9:1-7…Ah, falling into comfort “the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” and I thought COOL… but no, and that was not it. I read on and was stopped by my verse…. But “Really?” I thought, turning up my nose at the stench. Maybe I’m hearing wrong and I read on …  But God whispered,(how can a whisper be so loud?!)  “Go back, go back. Fuel for the fire…it’s all fuel for the fire…”  And the very next line is  “For a child has been born to us, a son given to us”… and goes on into that lovely oration that sings in our soul… Wonderful Counselor, Almighty Father, the Prince of Peace.” We so easily get ahead of ourselves and skip the stench of burning but it’s all fuel for that glorious fire.
