 years pass quickly and are gone, 

So teach us to number our days 

that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.

 Perfect is us 

what is lacking 

in your  gifts, 

of faith, to increase it, 

of hope, to establish it,

 of love, to kindle it, 

that we may live

in your grace and glory

The only thing I did not struggle with today while doing this post was the verse!. That, at least, was crystal clear .But I struggled with the  picture and with the font and with each succeeding thing, the colors had to change….And then,, just when I thought i was nearly done, I came to the collect .and thought “That can’t be right! “What is lacking in your gifts?!”  That’s gotta be wrong (ci’est moi -  often wrong but seldom in doubt!)  And  I very nearly left it out.  But,, along with Lancelot Andrewe’s book of private devotion,  maybe it Did make sense.So i looked back at the collect and it said ” you gave your servant the gift of the Holy Spirit and made him.. a man of prayer…”   Sr Electa,, says “Virtues are just good habits,  Louise.” As we go along, we  begin to note that we are lacking in a lot of areas, but with the singular  gift of the Holy Spirit, and community and prayer and effort, we can indeed begin to apply our hearts to wisdom. and have that bear fruit in our lives in an increase in faith, hope and love.
