if I do not 

have love, 

I am 

nothing. 

if I do not 

have love, 

I gain 

nothing. 

 These are reflections on the wall in the waiting area
of the Carmelite monastery in San Diego. In this Morning Prayer reading,  St Paul is talk-ing about “varieties of gifts.” So too, love is
 not the outward acts of doing , love is not
itself ministry, but a relfletion of that LOVE  that motivates all,  that is the sunshine that reflects, that is at, that IS the  heart of God.  And without it,  all our doing, as Bill Mahedy used to say(whose grandmother played the organ for the sisters there once upon a time ) “It ain’t worth nuthin'.”  None of it. All of it.
