       and Charles  Gore 1853-1932, 

are remembered for the roles in reviv-ing Anglican monasticism in the 19th c.

 The former was the 

principal founder in 

866of SSJE, the Society 

of St John the Evangelist,  

 the first Anglican order 

since their des-truciton in   the Reformation.  “The Cowley fathers," (their orig-inal foundation was in Cow-ley, England) came to the US In 1870 & are perhaps best knownfor The Cowley Press. The 

latter was Bishop 

 Oxford and founded 

The Community of the 

Resurrection, which also
