Antipon on Psalm 131
Whoever
humbles
himself
will be great
in the kingdom God.
Born “into a Christian
family somewhere along
the northwest coast of
Britain," captured and
taken to Ireland as a
slave, Patrick finally
escaped and returned
to his home only to
return to the land of
his captivity as a
Bishop to bring them
Christianity.
Legend has it that St Patrick taught them about the Holy Trinity by showing them a three leaf clover, that needs to be neither concept-ualized nor intellectualized.
Far frailer now than when this picture that was taken a scant 6 months ago, this psalm is a favorite of my Dad's, especially verse 3 "I still my soul and make it quiet, like a weaned child on it’s mother’s breast, my soul is quieted within me." though he has forgotten that now. It’s like he’s being honed down to his essence, and the essence is peace and love. It’s quite amazing to watch.
