Today on the Episcopal liturgical calendar we remember Jeanne d'Arc, known to us as Joan of Arc, not too shabby for the remembrance of Memorial Day that uniquely American which grew out of our own Civil War, repercussions of which resound tour own day.

                                                          Ecclesiasticus 2:17

     

       Let us 

      fall  into 

      the hands 

      of the 

      Lord, 

      but not  

      into the 

      hands 

      of  mortals, 

      for  equal to his majesty is his mercy. 

... we pray that we, like Jeanne d’Arc, we may bear wit-

ness to the truth 

that is in us to friends and 

enemies alike, and encouraged  

by the companionship of your 

saints, give ourselves bravely 

to the struggle for justice
