      glory of God & in thanksgiving for” the lives 
      of my husband Gordon’s and my parents, 
           Gordon Sr and Mildred Buck

              Bob and Betty Johnson. 
   My Dad, now 96  is the only one still living.

 it was necessary that one of the men who ac-companied us the whole time the Lord Jesus came and went among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us, should become a witness to his resurrection… & the lot fell upon Matthias & he was counted among with the eleven apostles.

Evening Prayer of St James

See, 

I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves: 

so be wise as serpents & innocent as doves.

St James the Apostle, brother of John, sons of Zebedee, among the small group to witness the Transfiguration of Jesus and the first of the Twelve to suffer martyrdom. By tradition his body was taken to Compostela, which remains a pilgrimage site to this day.
