Also on our calendar today are Richard Benson and Charles Gore who were both instrumental in the revival of Anglican monasticism in the 19th century. Fr Benson, with 2 others, founded SSJE, The Society of St. John the Evangelist 1824. The American branch of SSJE, begun in 1866, is still a very going concern.
