Ecce, Deus: Canticle 9
Surely it is God who saves me, I will trust in him and not be afraid.
And so we begin again.1-2-3. 1-2-3. 1-2-3.
We begin the psalms again in this long season of Epiphany (Easter is not until mid-April this year!) But for anyone who is in AA or any of the prog-ram's offshoots, or who knows about the steps
that makes up that life-giving Way, you know the deeper meaning here: these first 3 steps which condense down to “I can’t, God can, I think I’ll
let him,” which comprise the basic dance steps
of our life. And thus, over the course of a whole
life, we learn to listen, to let go, to be malleable.
Always we begin again, no matter where we are:
in childhood and young adulthood, in midlife full-ness and challenge, at another (yes, yet another) fork in the road or nearing journey’s end, it matters
not. 1-2-3. 1-2-3.1-2-3,& the waltz goes on from
“youth to age, by night and day, in gladness and
in woe. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice give thanks & sing.”
the American Episcopal Church remembers Julia Chester Emery (1859-1922) who established UTO, (United Thank Offering,) whose grant focus this year is is the Jesus Movement – ev-angelism, reconciliation, & following Jesus' way of creating
loving, liberating, & life-giving relationships
with God, each other, & all creation.
