Some of you omight not be familiar with The Wisdom of Solomon as it is not in most Prot-
estant Bibles. It, and Ecclesiasticus, whence
comes ”to everything there is a season…" are
from the Apocrypha which was written in
the inter-testamentary period. There’s
really good stuff in it. It is in the New
Revised Standard Version of the
Bible, if you’re interested. Part
of the reading for today, Wis-
dom 3: 1-9 is a pretty stand-
ard reading at Episcopal
funerals, which begins
“The souls of the
righteous are
in the hand
of God…”
