        Listen!
        A sower
        went out
        to sow.
        Some…
       seed
       fell on
       rocky
       ground …
       when the
       sun rose,
       it was scorched, and since
it had no root, it withered away.
Today we remember 2 American women who were seed sowers, er educators:

                  Anna
                  Julia
                 Haywood
                 Cooper
           (1858- 1964)

                    and

     Elizabeth
     Evelyn
     Wright

   (1872-1906)

And yep, the dates are right - Mrs Cooper lived to be 110 andMrs Wright died at age 34.

  ____________________________Genesis 40:7

Joseph asked pharaoh’s officers
who were with him in custody…
"Why are you two so bummed today?”

It’s unusual to get a verse that  doesn’t stand alone. But this one doesn’t. This one has some context and here it is: Joseph, of the coat-of-many-colors fame, was envied by his brothers because he was both a smart ass and his father’s favorite, being the youngest. One day, Abraham sent Joseph to check on his brothers, who were off tending the sheep. The short story is that eventually, to be rid of Joseph, and net a little money into he bargain, they sold him into slavery in Egypt. The years passed and he became a  trusted servant in Pharaohs house.  Pharaoh’s wife took a shine to him and tired to seduce him, and when that didn’t work, she accused him of sexual assault and he was thrown into prison. (Twice screwed!)  At the moment, it was the cupbearer and the chief baker, who had fallen afoul of the despotic and mercurial Pharaoh who were in prison.  They had both had dreams in the night and when Joseph came in, he noticed that they seemed all bummed out and asked them why,  And that’s the stage.  Which is 180 from his beginning… Reminds me of one of my favorite Souvenir’s from a long ago meeting “The smallest package in the world  is a person wrapped up in himself.” “
 * Polycarp, an early bishop martyred at  Smyrna in modern day Greece in 156.  When it was demandedof him to curse Christ, he responded, ”I served Him 86 years, and He never did me any injury: how then can I blas-pheme my King and Savior?"
May we, like , like  him,
be holy, gentle and  bold.
