Friday evening

                               Matthew 13:29-30, though not verbatim

Jesus said
“Let
them grow together until
the harvest,
for in gathering the weeds,
you would uproot the wheat along with them.”

Today the Church remembers John Wycliff (1320- 1384) “English scholastic philosopher, theologian, lay preacher, translator, reformer and university teacher at Oxford in England,” recognized as a forerunner of the Protestant Reformation which began in 1517 with "The 95 Theses” of the Augustinian monk Martin Luther, ” a list of questions and propositions for debate…” In the Lutheran church, today is known as Reformation Day.

                                                      Nehemiah 2: 4
In verses 1-3, told in the first person, when the wine
was served, King Artaxerxes noticed that Nehemiah
seemed down. Never having seen him sad before, &
knowing he was not sick, the king knew that he was
sick at heart So he asked him  what was wrong and
Nehemiah answered.

Then
the
king
said
to
me,
“What
do you
request?”
So
prayed
to
the
Lord
of
heaven.
Then
answered…

O God, your justice continually challenges your Church to act ac-cording to its calling; Grant us who now re-member John Wycliff, contrtion for the wounds which our sins inflict on your Church, and such love of Christ that we may seek to heal the wounds inflicted on
his Body… -Collect

“The question is not if there will be disagreement, it’s whether there will
be that deeper unity.”

 - Michael Curry,
Presiding Bishop
of the Episcopal
Church as of this
Sunday, All Saints
Day. He could use
your prayers.
