The Fourth Sunday of Easter

have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will and walk
in your
ways,
to the
glory
of your
Name.
                              Absolution at Morning Prayer

... forgive us so we can let go of the bonds of the past, those things that snare us, the hurts and resentments and disappointments, the wounds that trap us in the darkness and keep us from moving into God’s own future, delighting in his will and walking in his ways...

Easter Gospel reading

“And after-wards Jesus himself sent out through them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation
of eternal salvation."
Mark 16:8
I was astounded when I heard this.
I was sure I never HAD heard it before. It got my attention when they read it, so much so that I went back and reread it several times in church and then looked it up later at home.  But that's not what my Mark 16:8 Said.  So, much too full of Easter dinner, I Still went down to church to get the bulletin to see what it Did Say. aid. And when I looked it again there it was:  “The Shorter ending of Mark"
And afterwards Jesus himself sent out through them, through us, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. Astounding.

Still Easter morning

The
disciples
returned
to
their
homes.
But
Mary
stood
weeping
outside
the
tomb.
John
20:10,11

and so Mary Magdalene became the Apostle to the Apostles. Sometimes
the best thing to do is nothing
but wait and weep.

Easter morning

He
is
not
here,
he
is
risen

     he is here
