Sunday evening

                                          ___________Psalm 84:1a_

               How
             dear
           to me
        is your
     dwelling,
   O Lord of  hosts

Suddenly it's the last Sunday in July!

                               ___________The Collect_

may we
so pass
through
things
temporal
  that
    we
      lose
        not
            the
               things eternal  * *
                                                                     As
                                             I was working
                                        on this, I was also
                                     watering - getting
                                 up at quite short in-
                            tervals to turn on and
                       off  the sprinklers. Siri sets
them  so easily, like a genie
there when you want him- "him
because Tinker found me a lovely
male Australian voice. As the last timer
chimes went off , I laughed at myself , re-
membering  Sr Francisca telling me to
respond to the chapel bell like the voice
of God. I had  later considered it quaint
after falling love with Gordon  and leav-
ing behind the call (or so I thought). Un-
til  that last timer went off , I had been
treating these 2 things as 2 separate
activities- working on my medita-
tion vrse  over here and  inter-
rupting that to water over
here.And suddenly, as I
responded to that
last timer-
quick
ly, as
to the voice
of God ,God chucked
and he said very quietly
“Louise, there are not two
things-  this is one thing, one
life. So pass through things tempor-
al that you lose not the things eternal.”

Today we  cel-ebrate Joaquin and Anne, Mary's parents. Nothing is real-ly known a-bout them except that they existed, they  gave  birth to Mary, and helped to form her into the amazing woman of strength, depth, passion compassion  and character that we see in the Gospels. Which tells us quite alot about them. It is in the family that we first learn, love and faith, basic values, our own self worth and the dignity of others.

Pray today for families everywhere, whatever their condition, location or makeup.

This is the hymn that wa sgoing through my head  this Throwback Friday.

Our Father, by whose Name
all fatherhood is known,
who dost in love proclaim
each family thine own;
bless thou all parents guarding well,
 with constant love as sentinel,
the homes in which they people dwell.

O Christ, thyself a child
within an earthly home,
who dost in love proclaim
 each family thine know,
our children bless, in every place,
that they may all be hold thy face,
and, knowing thee, may grow in grace

O Spirit, who dost bind
our hearts in unity,
who teaches us to find
the love from self set free,
in all our hearts such love increase,
that every home, by though this release,
may be the dwelling place of peace.    *

    the
       Lord
     is
      good,
happy are they who trust in him _____________

James & his brother John were the sons of the fisherman Zebedee. Called early on by Jesus, they were nicknamed "The Sons of Thunder, providing hope to the hot head-ed! James was the first of the Apostles to be martyred. According to tra-dition, his body was taken to Spain and still today Santiago de Compostela is the culmina-tion of the famous pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago. This statue of James
in the cathedral at the starting point of the Camino. I almost didn’t use him because the
eyes kind of wig me out, but he’s got his staff, his pilgrim’s broad hat & the shell, his sym-
bol which is used as a marker for pilgrims all along the Camino.
It is also at the bottom of the shield of he Diocese of San Diego because Robert Wolter-storff, was at St James, La Jolla  before he was elected our first bishop. (Or maybe it's an historiacl artifct now as I can't find it online.) Our 5th and current brand new obispo
is Susan Brown Snook.

Your

__________________________________________
Sometimes it's just hard to buckle down and do what I'm supposed to do. BOR-ING! This morning the palm appoint-ed was 45 and I thought "Oh yuck. I'm by myself- maybe I'll read yesterday's since we didn’t, so I turned to 41. The antiphon was " Heal me, O Lord, for I have sinned against you."   God chuckled and I read Psalm 45. I actually think my verse is 7a but I went on to be sure.

The first reading was I Sameul 25:1-22 and again I thought BOR-ING!  Let's get this show on the road &...SWWR  to the max (my husband's acronym  for self-will run riot á la AA)  So I read it. And I'm so glad I did! It made me laugh and gave me perspective a dude so "ill natured that no one can speak to him" and it nearly got them  wiped out.  Now on to the second reading - God alone (literally) know what THAT will bring… It brought a lot!  And Bingo! & sud-denly, the image morphed from God far away in his heaven to this sign which is spray painted on a wall between Pales-tine and Israel. What a Guy!
