Sunday Evening Prayer

                         Psalm 46:11a

Be
still
then
and
know
that
I
am
God
         Be still then and know
         Be still then
         Be still
         Be

A Sunday in Ordinary Time

                                                                                                       Mark 4:37-40
A great wind-storm
arose,
so that the boat was already being swamp-ed. But Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion; and they woke him and they said to him “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"  Jesus woke up and he rebuked the wind and said to the sea “Peace! Be Still!”  Then then the wind ceased and there was
a dead calm. He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?”

I don’t think I have never noticed that little detail before. After posting my blog I went in to meditate on the passage  and I realized I had left out “he rebuked the wind”Before saying to the sea “Peace! Be still!” The underlying cause of the sea swamping the boat was the wind which was whipping up the waves... And he took care of the Cause before he addressed the immediate Consequence of the problem... A teeny detail perhaps but how cool is That!?

Lawrence, Patron Saint of Chutzpah & Clear-Sightedness d.258

The Roman prefect de-mand-ed
to be given information about the church’s treasures. In rely Lawrence  gathered the sick and the poor and presented them to him saying “these are the treasures of the church.”

Lawrence, Deacon & Martyr at Rome 258

            John 2:: 1-10

Jesus and his mother were at a wedding at Cana in Galilee and the wine ran out. There were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each of which held 20 or 30 gallons of water. Jesus had the slaves fill them with water, and they filled them to the brim. When the water was drawn out, it had become wine. The chief steward, who did not know where the wine had come form, went to the bridegroom and said “Everyone severs the best wine first and then, when everyone is drunk, the cheap stuff.  But
you have kept the good wine until now.
