Saturday evening

                                                           Psalm 116:10-11

How
will

repay
the
Lord
for all the
good things
he has done
for me?
I will lift up
the cup of salvation
and call upon the Name of the Lord.

Today in the Episcopal Church today we commemorate Saints Aidan and Cuthbert, bishops of Lindesfarrne off the northeast coast of england, 651, 684

The Saturday antiphon on the
first canticle, A Song of Creation

God saw
everything
he had made
and, behold,
it was
very good.

Morning of another hot day

                                                             Psalm 16:5, 8b

O  Lord,
you are my  portion and
my cup;
it is you who uphold  my lot. Because you are at my
right hand
I shall not fall.

evening

                                                         Psalm 18:29

You,
O Lord, are my lamp;
O God, you make my darkness bright.

The Commemoration of the Beheading of John the Baptist

        The
        arc
        of
        the
        moral
        universe
        may
        bend
        toward
        justice,
but it does not bend on its own.
                  President Barak Obama
                                          on the 50th anniversary
                                          of the March on Washington
                                          and Martin Luther King Jr’s
                                         “I have a  dream” speech.

                           And sadly today, wherever Republicans
are in charge of state governments they
are trying to restrict voters rights.

August 29th

Aurelius Augustinus (354-430) was born in North Africa. His mother Monica raised him to be a Christian, but it didn't take..... Years later, discovering that he was powerless and his life was unmanageable, he turned his will and life over to the care of God as he understood him. We know him today as St Augustine, Bishop of Hippo.

                                                                   1 Kings 3:9

Give
to
your
servant...
an
under-
standing
mind...
able to
discern between good and evil.

Late have I loved you,
Beauty,
ever ancient, ever new;
late have I loved you.
-St Augustine
