        that

        we,
        who

 * Thomas Becket  (1118-1170)
     Archbishop of Canterbury
An intimate friend of King Henry II, when Thomas became Archbishop in 1162, he chang-ed, in his own                  words, from  "a patron of play actors and a follower of hounds, to being a shepherd of souls.”  Dangerous business, being a follower of Christ. He was famously murdered in his own cathedral by thugs from the King who thought they were carrying out his wishes, having tweet-ed to his courtiers “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?”  When the monks undressed him they found underneath his episcopal robes he was wearing a hair shirt of a penitent.

     Keep your household from all evil and raise up among us faithful pastors and leaders who are wise in the ways of the Gospel

     … measured against the world’s population of 7.4 billion people, one in every 113 people globally is now either an asylum-seeker, internally displaced or a refugee – putting them at a level of risk for which UNHCR knows no precedent.The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said that politics was also standing in the way of those seeking asylum in some countries.
     The willingness of nations to work together not just for refugees but for the collective human interest is what’s being tested today, and it’s this spirit of unity that badly needs to prevail,” he declared.
      The US is cutting its UN budget for next year.
