St Ambrose, Bishop of Milan, c 339-397 (Author of the hymn “O splendor of God’s glory bright.” which you HAVE to sing to the tune Pur Nobis!)

                                                    Amos 7:8

Pray for lawyers & government officials; for preachers & hymn
writers; for joyful confidence in God’s care, for the Church in Milan & Northern Italy; & for all the all leaders of the Church, that  may show in their lives the love of God for world.

In 374, the Church in Milan was bitterly divided. Ambrose, a provincial governor, went to the basilica & exported the crowd to find a peaceful solution. They started crying for Ambrose to be their  new bishop, but he, though a Christian, he wasn’t even baptized. No prob: within a week he was baptized, confirmed, ordained & consecrated Bishop!  (Thanks Give us this Day!)
