Today the church remembers John & Charles Wesley, priests (1703- 1791 & 1707-1788). Their “Method” (a copy of which my husband Gordon was given as a boy growing up Methodist) was meant to reinvigorate the faith of the church. The split of the Methodists from the Church of England happened after the death of the 2 brothers.

           Charles was the hymn writer, many of which, eminently singable, with wonderful poetry & sound theology,- whole sermons, Our Marg says, are in our hymnal, among them “Come, thou long expected Jesus,  “Hark, the Herald angels Sing “Jesus, lover of my soul “ and “Lo, he comes with clouds descending”  &“Jesus, lover of my soul among many others. 

              Siri changed “may turn to him” as “major burden!”  “athirst” to“atheist!”  and  “descending” to “just sending"! He’s the product of a post-Christian world for sure!
