I was going to skip over old Roland because his title was so dry, but then I read about him and changed my tune: From Holy Women, Holy Men
“ He believed that all the mission work of the western church was paternalistic and deeply rooted in colonialist values that were incompatible but with the Gospel.. Although his ideas were often viewed with derision, or at least suspicion in his own day, he was the catalyst for the reform of mission strategy throughout the world and most of his ideas seem to be self-evident today. A priest and a missionary himself, Wikipedia went on to say that “Allen’s approach to Mission strategy for indigenous Churches is based on the study of Saint Paul’s missionary methods as he is convinced that in them can be found the solution to most of the difficulties of the day. He believed it was the recognition of the church as a local entity and trust in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling within the converts and churches which was the mark of Paul’s success”
What a concept, huh!? :) Something to remember & celebrate after all. "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees."
