Today we remember The Dorchester Chaplains who died in World War II

                            Psalm 69:7

     Let not
     those who
     hope in you
     be put
     to shame
     through me,
     Lord God
     of hosts:
     let not those
     who seek you be disgraced
     because of me ,O God of Israel.

 The Dorchester was a luxury liner converted into a troop transport ship was carrying 902 service men, merchant seamen and civilian workers from New-foundland to an American base in Green-land.  On February 3, 1943 it was torpedoed by a German U-boat. All four chaplains, First Lieutenants George Lansing Fox, Alexander David Goode, Clark Vandersall Poling, and Clark John Patrick Washington, “America realizing its diversity” (says from the JCC website,)  “helped other soldiers board lifeboats and gave up their own life jackets when the supply ran out. The chaplains joined arms, said prayers and sang hymns as the ship sank.
                    I ask your prayers today for all chaplains and for the men and women whom they serve at home and abroad, and give our leaders wisdom and restraint.
