And  yesterday  was Thomas Acquinas, ~1227-1274,   author of the Summa Theologica ,  as well as the Eucharistic hymns “O Saving Victim” and “Now my tongue the mystery telling”  Near the end of his life. he stopped  writing, 

saying that everything he had written seemed like straw compared to what had been revealed to him. 

“Enlighten us more & more, we pray, by the disciplined thinking & teach-ing of Christian scholars, & deepen our devotion” by the indwelling of  your Holy Spirit. - Collect
