                                      Antiphon on Psalm 75

              God
              does
              not
              judge
              by
              what
              the
              eyes
              see,
              but
              in
              truth
              and equity.
                *The Wesleys Brothers
      John (1703-1791) and Charles (1703-1791)
English Anglican priests who both
experienced inner conversions
which led them to become founders
 and leaders of the “Methodist”or
evangelical revival in the church,
akin to Cursillo in our own day. The
outer forms of religion are not enough.

The Methodist Church became a
separate entity only after the brother’s deaths. (Humans are such a fractious lot!)  My husband Gordon grew up a Methodist & was taught ‘the Method.”  Charles wrote a TON of hymns that Margaret England always says are not only singable but are complete sermons in themselves. ( Hark, the herald angels sing, Love divine, all loves excelling, Rejoice, the Lord is King, O for a thousand tongues to sing, Jesus,
lover of my soul, Lo! he comes with clouds descending)

In Morning Prayer,
we continue reading the story of Joseph who was sold into slavery in  Egypt. His brothers have come down to Egypt for the second time to buy food and have been brought to Jospeh’s house, though still unaware that it’s Joseph they are dealing with. Lunch is served, and each group is served separately since eating together would be an   “abomination to the Egyptians!  (Genesis 43:32) Wait ,wait! As readers of the New Testament, we are used to seeing the world    with Jewish eyes. But here, the tables are turned and it is the Jews who are the unclean OTHER! It made me laugh but aso stop and think.
Kindle in your Church, we [pray] such fervor, that those whose faith has cooled may be war-med,  and those who have not known Christ may turn to him and be saved - Collect
