Every Advent for too many years to know, beginning on the 17th, and ending on the 23th, the evening before the First Vespers of Christmas, Bill Mahedy would send me the O Antiphons in Latin and I would send them back in English.... (The Great O Antiphons are the antiphons on the Magnificat at Evening Prayer for those days and they all begin with "O" ... as in O Come, O come, Emmanuel , the O Antiphon for the 23rd...) This is the first year he's been gone. I miss him and them but am so grateful to have had that little spark of a connection each day leading up to the Birth.
