Richard Hooker  (1554-1600) 

of  “the three legged stool”  fame was a pivotal priest and theologian in the Anglican Communion. His book Ecclesiastical Polity  “ is a masterful defense of the 

Anglican vis media, the middle way  between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism (Puritanism) with a three-fold basis of Scripture, reason and tradition. “ 

         Grant that we may maintain this middle way 

        not as a compromise for the sake of peace, but 

        as a comprehension for the sake of truth.”   

                              Prayers are suggested for theologians and

                              all who explain the faith and for the unity 

                              of the Church of God.
